Eco-Friendly and regenerated
We grow an extensive array of produce on our Organic farm.
We comply with the Organic Standard and that covers things such as animal kindness, no use of toxic chemicals, ensuring water quality and much more.
Hot water and some of our electricity are supplied by the sun.
A good deal of building and landscape materials are natural or upcycled.
To ensure a healthy eco-system 10% of our farm is dedicated to rainforest regeneration, including all riparian zones.
The chooks and a healthy eco-system are our ‘pesticide’. The chooks and cows are our ‘fertiliser’.

ABOUT HUONBROOK VALLEY and WANGANUI GEORGE
The Huonbrook and Wanganui terrain originated from lava flows direct from the Mount Warning volcano, some 20 million years ago.
The rugged ridges of this area are mostly within National Parks.
They comprise of stunning forests – both dry forest, rainforests and old growth eucalypt - with fine-scale mosaics of vegetation.
Flowing through this area are the Wilsons and Coopers Creeks,
both tributaries of the Wilsons - Richmond River system which flows into the ocean at Ballina.
Prior to white settlement, Aboriginals of the Bundjalung tribe inhabited this area.
The first red cedar cutters arrived in this area in 1849.
There was extensive logging in the whole of this northern rivers area.
Settlement soon followed after, with roads made to haul logs to the ocean.
Soon after dairy farms, then banana plantations, were established.
A decline in both industries post WWII saw an upsurge in regeneration and formerly forested lands began to revert to regrowth forest.
